The Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo, EAESP, better known as GV or FGV-São Paulo, is located in São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil. As an independent school – not part of a university – it is the largest of the five units of the Fundação Getulio Vargas, a private institution with its head office in Rio de Janeiro.

A pioneer in the teaching of business administration in Brazil, GV was founded in 1954, celebrating its 45th anniversary in 1999.Its creation was the result of the joint effort of various institutions, especially the federal government and the São Paulo business community. It also benefited from the contribution of a mission of Michigan State University professors that collaborated in the planning and in the academic orientation of its activities.

In 1954, GV implemented the Intensive Course in Administration, the goal of which was to offer training in advanced management techniques to the leaders of the emerging Brazilian industrial sector. In 1955, it created Brazil’s first Bachelor’s program in Business Administration in order to provide training for the future managers of Brazil’s companies.

Today, highly regarded as one of the major Brazilian centers for research, publishing, and the teaching of Administration, GV offers a complete range of courses to educate professionals in Administration: undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education. In addition, the school has a renowned consultancy serving the private sector and government agencies.

One of GV´s notable characteristics has always been its pursuit of quality, innovation, and leadership. The current example of this effort is its partnerships with the most important companies and government institutions.

These partnership have provided the school with advanced infrastructure resources: well-equipped classrooms, a modern distance learning center, and computer laboratories with the latest technology. They have also enabled intense teacher and student exchange with foreign schools and universities. Finally, the partnership have offered the opportunity to maintain a scholarship fund to support undergraduate students, who then repay the loans after graduating.
